Mid-Level Software Developer

Giessenburg Location - Full-time

Working as a Mid-Level Software Developer at Rietveld

At Rietveld, we develop smart solutions that enable organizations to use their vehicles and machinery more safely, efficiently, and sustainably. Our software products, including EasyTrack, EasyDrive, and Efficio, process vehicle data and support customers with fleet management, trip logging, and data-driven workflows, among other things.

As a mid-level software developer, you’ll work largely independently on new and existing features. You’ll translate functional requirements into appropriate technical solutions and be involved in the entire development process: from analysis and design to implementation, testing, and delivery.

In doing so, you’ll look beyond just the code. You’ll actively contribute ideas regarding architecture, performance, security, scalability, and maintainability. You’ll also assess how a change might affect other components of our applications and platforms.

What will you do as a mid-level software developer?

  • Independently develop, maintain, and improve software for EasyTrack, EasyDrive, Efficio, and other systems.
  • Analyze functional requirements and translate them into reliable technical solutions.
  • Developing and maintaining backend services, APIs, and integrations in .NET and C#.
  • Develop and improve web functionalities and user interfaces using TypeScript.
  • Design and optimize data models, SQL queries, and data processing.
  • Integrating internal and external systems, data sources, and services.
  • Developing and managing cloud solutions within Microsoft Azure.
  • Writing and maintaining automated tests.
  • Analyzing and systematically resolving complex software issues and incidents.
  • Conducting code reviews and providing substantive feedback.
  • Contributing ideas regarding software architecture, performance, security, availability, and scalability.
  • Estimating workloads and identifying technical risks and dependencies in a timely manner.
  • Documenting technical decisions, interfaces, configurations, and deployment procedures.
  • Supporting junior developers and contributing to knowledge sharing within the team.

Depending on the solution, you may also work with mobile applications, NoSQL databases, Go, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, messaging, and event-driven architectures.

Your Responsibilities

As a mid-level software developer, you’ll independently take responsibility for components of an application or platform. You’ll ensure that your software is delivered with high quality, is maintainable, and is testable.

You monitor the stability, performance, and security of the components you’re working on. When technical issues arise, you investigate not only the immediate error but also its underlying cause. In doing so, you take into account dependencies within the system and the consequences for users, customers, and other applications.

You regularly coordinate with other developers, product management, support, and operations regarding requirements, priorities, technical decisions, and releases.

Who are we looking for?

You recognize yourself in the following profile:

  • You have a college-level education and way of thinking, preferably in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • You have relevant experience as a software developer in a professional development environment.
  • You have a strong knowledge of C# and .NET.
  • You have experience with TypeScript and modern web development.
  • You have a solid understanding of SQL, relational databases, queries, and data models.
  • You have experience with API development and system integrations.
  • You are familiar with Git, CI/CD, and automated testing.
  • You can independently analyze and solve more complex technical problems.
  • You actively contribute ideas regarding architecture, performance, security, scalability, and maintainability.
  • You can estimate the scope of work and identify technical risks in a timely manner.
  • You assess the impact of changes on other parts of the system.
  • You can conduct code reviews and provide substantive support to less experienced developers.
  • You pick up new programming languages, frameworks, and platforms relatively quickly.
  • You have a strong command of Dutch and English, both spoken and written.

Experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, NoSQL, mobile app development, Go, Docker, Kubernetes, messaging, or event-driven architectures is a plus. An interest in telematics, fleet management, vehicle data, or data-driven applications is also a plus.

What do we offer you?

  • An independent and varied role within an innovative organization.
  • The opportunity to work on proprietary software products with a tangible impact.
  • Technical challenges in the areas of data, integrations, the cloud, and mobility.
  • Opportunities to contribute ideas regarding architecture, development standards, and technical improvements.
  • A great deal of responsibility for your own application components and projects.
  • Opportunities to further develop your skills and learn new technologies.
  • Collaboration with experienced developers and colleagues from various disciplines.
  • An informal work environment with short lines of communication.
  • Flexible work hours with a focus on a healthy work-life balance.
  • The option to work remotely.
  • A competitive salary and good benefits.
  • An enthusiastic and dedicated team.
