Working as a Junior Software Developer at Rietveld

At Rietveld, we develop smart solutions that enable organizations to use their vehicles and machines more safely, efficiently, and sustainably. Our software products, including EasyTrack, EasyDrive, and Efficio, process vehicle data and support customers with fleet management, trip logging, and data-driven operations, among other things.

As a junior software developer, you’ll contribute to the development, maintenance, and improvement of our software solutions. You’ll carry out development tasks within clear guidelines and receive guidance from experienced colleagues on more complex technical issues.

You’ll gain a deeper understanding of our applications, code, development standards, and technical environment. As you gain more experience, you’ll take on increasing autonomy and responsibility for features and components of our software.

What will you do as a junior software developer?

• Develop, maintain, and improve our software solutions.
• Work on new and existing features within our applications.
• Translate functional requirements into technical solutions.
• Performing development tasks within clear technical guidelines.
• Work on more complex technical issues under supervision.
• Analyzing and resolving software issues and incidents.
• Integrating internal and external systems, data sources, and services.
• Contribute to backend services, APIs, and integrations in .NET and C#.
• Develop and improve web functionalities and user interfaces.
• Working with databases, data models, and data processing.
• Test, document, and carefully deploy software.
• Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback.
• Build technical knowledge and actively share it within the development team.

Depending on your knowledge and development, you’ll also have the opportunity to explore Microsoft Azure, AWS, NoSQL databases, mobile applications, Go, Docker, Kubernetes, messaging, and event-driven architectures.

Your Development

As a junior software developer, you’ll have the opportunity to further expand your technical knowledge in a practical setting. You’ll work on straightforward assignments and features, but you’ll also be involved in larger and more complex software solutions.

Experienced developers will guide you through technical decisions and help you analyze and solve problems with increasing independence. You’ll learn not only how to develop software, but also how to ensure it remains reliable, secure, testable, and maintainable.

As you grow, you’ll take on more responsibility for complete features and application components.

Who are we looking for?

You recognize yourself in the following profile:

• You have a vocational or higher vocational education (MBO or HBO) level of work and thinking, preferably in Software Development, Computer Science, or Software Engineering.
• You have some practical experience with software development, for example from a first job, internship, graduation project, or personal projects.
• You have a basic knowledge of C# and .NET or are motivated to further develop your skills in these areas.
• You have an affinity for TypeScript and modern web development.
• You have a basic understanding of SQL, databases, and data models.
• You understand the basic principles of APIs and system integrations.
• You can analyze software problems and solve them step by step.
• You work meticulously and are open to guidance and feedback.
• You enjoy examining and improving existing software.
• You’re curious and eager to master new techniques.
• You’re a team player and aren’t afraid to ask questions.
• You are fluent in Dutch and can read technical information in English.

Experience with Git, automated testing, CI/CD, or cloud technology is a plus, but not required. An affinity for telematics, fleet management, vehicle data, or data-driven applications is also a plus.

We don’t expect you to already be proficient in all these technologies. We value your technical foundation, eagerness to learn, and motivation to continue developing yourself just as much.
